The Susquehanna

I love the way the Susquehanna cuts through the ridges. But it must have been a disappointment to our ancestors. First, it's too shallow for ships much above its mouth. No Hudson this. But worst of all, it goes in the wrong direction - north-south, when the pioneers were headed west.

Here, I'm looking south just north of Liverpool. It's a soft country, filled with fertile fields (aka landing areas). I rest easy, glad to be out of the forested mountains further west.
