When I was little, my brother Dick and I would play “Bud”. We’d create a street layout with these blocks and then push our Dinky Toy cars along the streets. His cars were driven by his character named Bud. My guy was also named Bud. Hence “Bud”.

Confusion was not a problem because Bud and Bud didn’t have much dialog. They were men of few words - the same words used over and over. The game was all about the physical pleasure of exploring the street layout with the cars.

I still have the very blocks we used 70 years ago. I used them to make this mini-layout last week. Alas, this truck is the only Dinky Toy left out of our fleet.
