Railroad Cut
It turns out to be the roadbed of the old Orange & Alexandria railroad. This cut was dug by pick and shovel in 1852. The men who dug it are gone, the railroad is gone, the Civil War is gone. I wonder what they would have made of me riding through here this morning.
