I flew north with a stop at Hancock, MD, near Berkeley Springs on the map. My goal was Cove Valley airport east of Altoona.

I originally planned to fly to the Altoona airport, but I'll be arriving after they close, and they lock it up at night, one of the sad results of 9-11. Cove Valley is a small private grass field further north.

In the event, I had a 12mph headwind on the nose the whole way north, so my ground speed was 41mph. I watched traffic on even small roads pass me by as I flew over. With the stop at Hancock, it was a 3-hour flight.

Returning the next evening, the wind was behind me. Ground speed of 60mph. Woo hoo! 2:34 to get home despite a longer route via Cumberland and a stop there.
