There and Back

Here's the GPS plot of the route I actually flew, going up the left side to Hazleton the first day. The second day, I followed the Susquehanna through the mountains, then home via Frederick, Maryland.

I normally wouldn't venture into these mountains. Wind over the ridges creates uncomfortable turbulence, and I don't fly over large forests with no place to land. But the wind was apparently also on furlough these two days, and the Pennsylvania valleys turned out to be rich with farm fields suitable for emergency landings.
