Farewell to New Brunswick

There's no such song. New Brunswick may have its share of mountains dark and dreary, but Nova Scotia has all the romance. Anne of Green Gables and thousands of Japanese tourists visiting it each year? Next door on Prince Edward Island. That famous rocky peninsula with the gap in it? Quebec.

What New Brunswick does have is a beautiful 4-lane highway, rain-free by the time we arrived. We headed west for the border, a long way away.

We arrived well after dark at a deserted Customs post in the middle of nowhere. Look! Up ahead! It's a signpost - for the Twilight Zone. We were the only car there during our whole time. But it was an easy business, and we were soon on our way. Two more hours to Bangor. It was a long day.
