We never had a dog, but daughter Ellen has wanted one for years. After three years of research, she settled on a breed you've never heard of, a Eurasier, and a breeder - in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After many conversations with the breeder and a trip to Halifax in September to see the puppies, it was time to go fetch Isaac (as he was then called) and bring him home.

The week before Thanksgiving, 2015, Ellen, Linda, and I flew up to Halifax and made the three-day drive home with the puppy. It was a fine trip, and you couldn't ask for a better dog.
