Tight valleys, few fields
This is just into West Virginia. Beyond the question of whether those fields are big enough to land on, there's the wind. When the wind blows over the mountains, it spills into these valleys all roiled and gusty. This makes landing hazardous, as anyone who's flown into the Sky Bryce airport can attest. This weekend was calm.
