Being very light aircraft, trikes get bounced around a lot in the mid-day thermals. It's just not fun. So I prefer to fly in the first and last 3 hours of the day.

Here, it's 4:30pm, and the air is still bumpy. But sunset will be at 8:44pm on this July evening, I have a 3-hour flight, and a strong but unknown headwind. So I leave earlier than I'd like and just ride out the bumps.
