Trike trips are best launched at dawn. By now, it's 11:00 and the thermals are kicking up, making the air bumpy. This isn't dangerous, but it is uncomfortable. I'm constantly having to work the control bar and I'm getting bounced around, both tiring. So, much as I prefer flying low, I've climbed above the clouds (to 4,935' according to the vario). Up here, it's smooth as glass. But it's also a little chilly - 51 degrees F., and I'm sitting in a 55mph wind, so there's definitely a wind chill at work. Carried away with spring days, I had not dressed warmly enough, so I was cold. My own fault. I should have put some long underwear in my kit and kept the heated clothes.
